Who We Are
Who you will meet:
Dr Mette Stopa (chiropractor)
Originally from Denmark but has lived in Scotland for so many years that she is practically Scottish.
After graduating as a chiropractor from the AECC chiropractic school in Bournemouth in 1993 Mette established her clinic in Bearsden, Glasgow. She has undertaken 3 years post graduate studies in Holland, London and America with the renowned Carrick Institute www.carrickinstitute.org and is now a qualified Chiropractic Neurologist.
Chiropractic Neurology is a speciality field within Chiropractic. Mette is the only Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist in Scotland.
During her free time Mette enjoys a spot of DIY, long walks with her cocker spaniel, baking bread and can regularly be found on the cross trainer in her local gym.
Dr Jenny O'Brien (chiropractor)
Jenny is a Glasgow lass at heart and she joined the clinic in August 2010.
Jenny completed a 3 year honours degree in anatomy at Dundee University before heading to Glamorgan University, Cardiff, in order to qualify as a chiropractor.
She is currently working on her post-graduate training to become a member of the College of Chiropractors.
In her spare time Jenny enjoys skiing, yoga and travelling. While a student she spent all her holidays backpacking around Asia, however she is delighted to be back in bonny Scotland. Once a Glasgow lass always a Glasgow lass!
Mr Bruce Shiell (massage therapist)
Bruce offers deep tissue massages, as well as Thai yoga massage. He has many, many years of experience and all his regular clients just love his laid back style.
Bruce likes surfing and mountain biking with his kids and is very keen on yoga. Given the chance he will immediately assume the lotus position and if you listen closely enough you may just be able to hear him hum.
Mrs Anna Shiell (massage therapist)
Anna is married to Bruce and hails from Sweden. She has been practising for more than 15 years. Anna offers clinical aromatherapy and remedial massage.
Anna's very quiet and her calm disposition is seen as a bonus by all her regulars who say it helps them leave their tensions in her treatment room.
In her spare time Anna enjoys hill walking, rollerblading and watching foreign films.
Mrs Carol McKenzie (receptionist)
Carol lives in Milngavie and was brought up in Bearsden. She knows many of the families that come into the clinic and offers a friendly welcome to all patients, old and new.
Carol loves her music and dance. If you are lucky and creep in without her knowing she can often be found singing and dancing happily.
Carol is the clinic's fashion model and is always immaculate. She is admired by all the patients and staff, although we are a little jealous - how does she get her hair to sit so perfectly?!
Mrs Irene Sinclair (receptionist)
Irene has lived in Bearsden for over 30 years and loves to chat with the patients before their appointments. Irene, like Carol, knows many of the patients as her three grown up daughters, and now her granddaughter, have all been educated locally.
Irene loves to cook and if you pick the right day, you might be tempted to sample some of her baking treats! She is a bit of a whizz-kid on the computer and should you ever need it, she'll whip you up a spreadsheet in no time!!
Both Carol and Irene like to think they have made a lot of friends amongst the patients and love to meet the families who also regularly come in for treatment.
Frida (the clinic dog)
A black and tan cocker spaniel named after one of the lead singers from Abba.
Although confined to the kitchen and garden, Frida loves a visit from any of the children attending the clinic and will happily give paw. She takes pet-therapy to a higher level.
